2011 GM 8-lug wheels on older trucks
I have a line on some OEM 20" 8-lug wheels off of a 2011 GMC Denali.
I know that the lug pattern is different now, but wondering if there was an adapter available to make these wheels work? Or, I am converting a dually over to single wheel and will probably be buying all new parts for the front. I thought I had read someplace about getting custom patterns made in the rotors, but that might have been specific for a certain rotor, for a specific truck? Not sure what I would do about the back though?

Re: 2011 GM 8-lug wheels on older trucks
Rotors and axles/drums can be redrilled for the most part. There just has to be enough meat there to work with safely. Preferrably weld up the old openings but I have seen it done just in the gaps between the original holes. The key is the precision in which it has to be done, if it is off it is not only that the rim might not fit but it can be off center and out of balance.
An example were it is commonly done is on an early Dart/Barracuda they had a 5 on 4 pattern were the ones after 71/72 and most other Mopars were 5 on 4.5. As a result most popular rims, factory and aftermarket, were not made in the smaller pattern. Many people change the front end to the later components for disc brakes and then redrill the axles/drums to match. They ever make large patern aftermarket axles for the early length 8 3/4 rear end. In short, if there is enough meat it can be done by a machine shop or axle supplier. Hope this helps. Good luck. |

Re: 2011 GM 8-lug wheels on older trucks
Ford changed to 8 x 170mm sometime in the 90's
I used a set of T800 chassis 8 x 6.5" aluminum wheels on my 76. The center caps fit with externally threaded adapter lugs. The T400 steel wheels will fit the squares and the T800 trucks. Vans may have a different hub center diameter but the bolt circles are the same. Did they change the bolt circle after 2008?

Re: 2011 GM 8-lug wheels on older trucks
Starting with the 2011 model year GMT900 HD trucks the bolt circle changed from 8 on 6.5 to 8 on 180mm. However, the 8 lug SUV’s (Suburban & Yukon XL) as well as G-vans still use 8 x 6.5 (probably until 2014 or 15 MY). That said, if that Denali you are looking to purchase the wheels from is actually a Yukon Denali they should be a direct bolt on but I would still measure them before laying out the cash. I don’t see where going through the motions to make an 8 on 180mm fit an old 8 on 6.5 would be worth it. The late model OEM wheels aren’t very attractive anyway….too much bling for my taste, just my .02
Here is a story on the HD truck suspension changes starting with 2011 model year.

The truck pictured is a Denali Crew.
I like them because they are Bling, but are also GM! Yes a bit to go through, but I have never shied away from things like this for purely vanity's sake Quote:

Re: 2011 GM 8-lug wheels on older trucks
So bringing this back up again, and thanks for the link BTW, how much of a spacer would be needed to use these wheels?
It looks like most of the ones offered are either 1.5" or 2"; are either of these the correct ones to use?

Re: 2011 GM 8-lug wheels on older trucks
Anyone currently using these? I know the GM offset needs the spacer anyway. Looking for someone actually running these on a one ton. THANKS!!
