1986 k20 Build Thread
Im going to start the build thread on my 1986 k20 chevy. This truck was sitting for 8 years in my driveway just rotting away and my dad gave it to me. The person i work for gave me a six inch lift kit for free and i decided to start building fixing and building this truck to get it back to life. I then purchased 3 inch blocks to raise it even more!

Re: 1986 k20 Build Thread
After searching craigslist for day looking for an 8 ft bed since they are rare at rust free condition i then found this really nice rust free cab! a 1985 c30. The guy wanted 900 for the cab and frame. the frame is a two wheel drive frame with a lift bed since it is a dump truck frame. I don't need the frame but i called him and he said for 1400 i can take the cab, frame (fully restored frame in excellent condition), 2 brand new aftermarket doors still in the boxes, two brand new aftermarket inner fenders still in the boxes, two outer fenders in excellent rust free condition, a rust free bed that has two brand new sides off of another project he never finished, two front bumpers and a rear bumper, some grill pieces and trim, and some interior pieces.

Awesome build thread... It's not a build thread unless you have lots of pictures. You win the prize for most pics
Awesome work Brad. Your floor looks like my 87 cab floor. I'm still searching for that sweet like what you found on Craigs. Damn. Man You got lucky there. You could even recoop some funds by selling your repaired cab

Re: 1986 k20 Build Thread
So this is all i have for now and i can only work on weekends because im only 16 and i have school during the week. i also work at a collision and body shop that my neighbors own so i work everyday after school. working at a body shop is teaching me how to paint, weld, do body work, and that's basically all i need to make a sweet truck. i plan on making this truck a show truck. i originally planned on a woods beater until i scored that cab and bed on craigslist.

Re: 1986 k20 Build Thread
nice work on some major rust repair. one question, post #8 last pic, are those blocks under your front springs? this is a major no-no,get a taller pack or re-arch your springs.
