Lift Kit ideas/options/suggestions
I have a 1985 GMC high sierra step side.(short bed) right now im running 33/12.5/15 on stock set up. no rubbing at all no matter what. the high sierras came with a factory 2 inch lift back in the day. but my leafs a really worn out and i thought why not just get a 4 inch full suspension lift off rough country seems like a good idea at least and real cheap like $450 i believe. anyone ever ran rough country? im not looking for anything over a 6 for right now. its my daily driver during the week but hits the trails an mud holes on the weekend.

Re: Lift Kit ideas/options/suggestions
I would put 2.5 procomp springs in the front and blocks in the rear or rough country (I think they make a 3" or something). That looks the best with a 33.12.50 tire. 4 inch looks best with a 35" tire.

Re: Lift Kit ideas/options/suggestions
I say go with a 4" suspension and later you may want to upgrade to 35" tires but in the meantime your 33s will still look good.

Go skyjacker or tough country. Rough county is cheap but not as good either.

Re: Lift Kit ideas/options/suggestions
like i said my truck came stock with a 2 inch lift might be a 3 i clear 33's with ease and could put 35's with minor rub. it was part of the high sierra package. but yeah i believe a 4 inch lift is in my future

Re: Lift Kit ideas/options/suggestions
I actually have the 4" RC lift on my truck. Nice and cheap too. New springs up front and blocks in the rear. The back was lower than the front but I would attribute that to the rear springs being worn-out. Rough Country says that you can fit a 35" x 12.50" with there lift but I squeezed some 35" x 13.50" and never had a problem with rubbing.
Here's the truck with the 4" RC ![]()

Re: Lift Kit ideas/options/suggestions
Agreed. High Sierra was just a trim package. There were lots of 2-wheel drive high sierras as well, none of which came with blocks. If your truck has blocks, they're aftermarket.

Re: Lift Kit ideas/options/suggestions
I was surprised hear myself. I was doing a lil research on the high sierra and came across it but heres a picture, on 33/12.5/15 my leafs are almost flat in the rear and reversed pretty much in the front. They've seen their day.

Re: Lift Kit ideas/options/suggestions
I think you'd be more than pleased with it, especially if your current springs are worn out. They're pretty quick shipping it too.

Re: Lift Kit ideas/options/suggestions
I have a rough country. And when they say rough it really means it. I swapped those for a tuff country e-z 4" lift and loved it. Runnin 35x12.50 15's and never rub. I traded straight up for it so idk about cost though

Re: Lift Kit ideas/options/suggestions
if its your daily driver i wouldnt suggest rough country cuz theyre so stiff. also blocks are kinda the cheap way out the best lift is a true spring lift

Re: Lift Kit ideas/options/suggestions
If you think your truck has 2 inches of lift on it now, then when you see it with 4 inches of true lift on it you are going to say, "holy crap those tires look small" And you will swear it is 6 inches, because your truck looks to be at factory ride height to me. I can't find a picture of my old one or I would show you. You can fit a 33.12.50 in a 10inch wide wheel when you run a 2.5 inch spring. Yours has 15x7's and they looked stuffed. I could be completely wrong. Someone correct me if I am wrong.

Re: Lift Kit ideas/options/suggestions
Tough country doesnt make a lift for my year of truck, i know i can just leafs separately. There going to be more than double rough countries whole kit, that includes brake lines transfer case drop steering stabilizer shocks... i cant go tuff country 4 inch. maybe one day. but thank you for the suggestion.
