Book shelf speakers?

I read here or on another forum where someone cut down a pair of bookshelf speakers (Sony I believe) and stuck them under the seat. Is this a viable option? Being electronically challenged, can you run home speakers with a car radio? I'm probably looking at the Retrosound radio for my '66, but am having some trouble coming up with speaker ideas. I hear bad things about the kick panel speakers and besides just completed the interior including the kick panels and don't want undo what I just did. Would something like the Bose Acoustimass (or whatever they're called) cube speakers work under the seats?

you can replace the stock dash 4x10 with a pair of 4" speakers. I also fit a pair of 6.5" speakers under the seat in my '68 but some 5.5" ones would fit easier. What's the price range you are looking for? Maybe we can help you out with a set up?

There is a little room to do something like the cab corner setups for a 6.5 or 6x9 with minimal effort. I don't have a fuel tank in my cab, so I am putting my 6.5's as high as they go in the cab corner, but low down works well, too. Most bookshelf/home audio is 8ohm, so be aware of your impedance and I am not a fan of Bose components, there are better speakers to be had for cheaper that are designed for an enclosed cab.

i found some small tv surround speakers that where the right ohms
considered changing the speakers inside but they worked/sounded ok
