Need some help on an air cleaner question
I'm hoping someone can help me on this. I have a 63 half ton with the 230 6 cylinder engine. My air cleaner opening is a little bit bigger than the width of my 1 bbl carb so that it doesn't fit snug overtop the carburetor. Can someone tell me if there's supposed to be an adapter or spacer that fits on top of the carb so that it can fit snug? It would be even better if you can send me a picture of what the top of the carburetor should look like. Thanks in advance, Tony

Re: Need some help on an air cleaner question
You have a paper element air cleaner correct? The lid caves into the center correct? There is no PCV line connected to it?

Re: Need some help on an air cleaner question
yes that's exactly what I have. And thanks for that picture-it has a lot of detail that I can use. Is there some sort of spacer that goes on top of the carburetor or do I maybe have the wrong air cleaner?? The diameter of the opening of my air cleaner is a little more than 1 5/8" wide. Is this the right air cleaner--it doesn't look exactly like the one in the picture, the one in the picture looks taller.

Re: Need some help on an air cleaner question
It takes about a 2" FILTER. Mine is not original. Converted from a single to a 4 Barrel.

Re: Need some help on an air cleaner question
Is it is the bottom of the air cleaner housing and not anything to do with the filter? If that is the case then you most likely have the wrong part if it does not fit tightly on the flange on the top of the carb. Usually there is a cork or similar gasket that sits on the carb and the housing sits on that. Hope this helps.

Re: Need some help on an air cleaner question
Yes I think you're right, it's probably not the right air cleaner.
