A razor blade and windex is the easiest thing to use, but be careful not to scratch your glass.

Saw a guy on tv and he said put chrome polish on your windshield let it dry and then wipe off. Any spots that remain use a clay stick. He explained like what you use to get water spots off your paint. I didn't know what a clay stick was. But I saw a kit that MacGuiers has with one in it. It was $20. Saw my kids had gotten some kiddy clay from a party. Felt the same. Haven't done the chrome polish yet but I took the clay out and rubbed it around on th window and it took the water spots and haze off off.

I saw the guy on TV- he said use Mother's clay bar and then chrome polish. The window he did it on looked spotless.

the best way to remove water spots off glass is with aluminium acid for wheel with some 000 steel wool (make sure to use rubber gloves and not to get any on the paint) and to wash off the acid with a damp to wet towel.

thanks guys, i'll get some clay magic, a razor blade, windex, and some bon-ami, but i don't think i want to mess with the acid
. anyone else have suggestions? we don't have hard water here, but i know that calcium has messed up my shower door and nothing i tried over the counter for removal has worked so if i find the right combination i'll reapply it in the house. even the stuff "Billy Mays" - (oxyclean) pushes on tv wouldn't work.

Are you sure they're water spots?
Could be the glass separating.
Cheerful thought, huh?
If you get the clay bar, they'll give you a spray solution. When you run out, a little dish soap in some water works fine.
Don't think I'd use chrome polish on paint. That stuff can remove rust, so it must be abrasive.

ok - here is an old household trick that might work. i havent tried it lately, but its a classic.

1 tbsp ammonia (it stinks, but its useful)
3 tbsp dish soap
1 tbsp white vinegar
3/4 cup water

mix it all together, and you have a good grout/bathroom cleaner.

you might also just try straight white vinegar - i use it to clean chrome on the bathroom sink and tub all the time.

WARNING: I am talking about the bathroom, here, NOT OUR TRUCKS. I imagine some of this stuff will do some serious damage to paint. If you try it on the truck --- do so at your own risk! hee hee

Oh - BTW - I use a chrome polisher called NEVER DULL for cleaning water spots off of glass. Its available at Walmart, Target, etc. and it is inexpensive. Can be used to polish an awful lot. I highly suggest it!

jewels. got it right. I have used just white vinegar with the 000 steel wool. Works great everytime. I do this with all my vehicles glass whenever they have spots on them. Caution, do NOT use any thing greater (more abbrasive than the 000) it will scratch glass!

I use the same method as cdowns.
Bon-Ami

Bon-Ami

Quote:
Bon Ami Cleaning Powder is the same 1886 formula but in powder form… and in a easy to shake round can. Both contain gentle feldspar abrasive for polishing and soap for cleaning all hard surfaces. Use to defog windows and mirrors. NASA even used Cleaning Powder to clean the windows on Skylab
Have fun
