Re: driveshaft angle with pix
Typically the difference between the tailshaft and pinion should be 2-3 degrees.

Re: driveshaft angle with pix
How should I figure out the difference? Do I unbolt the driveshaft from the pinion and put the angle finder on the flat part. Thanks for your help

Re: driveshaft angle with pix
Output shaft on tansmission should be the same as the input on the rear end. Also, that driveshaft ought to be into that tranny about 2 1/2" further.

Are you at ride height or fully dropped?

That picture is with the truck at stock height. I plan on doing bags with ame c-notch. when I do the angle of the drive shaft will get worse I assume.

Re: driveshaft angle with pix
Right. Do you have room between the trans and the cab floor to shim the transmission mount?

Re: driveshaft angle with pix
Should be 2.5" from tailshaft to center of front ujoint.
Your pinion angle looks fine, for now.. wait you never posted your pinion angle. The trans output and pinion should be parallel. The driveshaft shouldn't be any more than 3* different than your pinion/trans output angle. Posted via Mobile Device |

Re: driveshaft angle with pix
I think I might shim the trans mount up about 1/4" and re-measure.
Just something to consider, when you accelerate the pinion will rotate down. .. so your 4* up is okayy .. but it will quickly go to 1-2* or so as you pull away from the stop lights. If I am thinking correctly, if you shim the trans mount up just a hair wouldn't that put them close to equal but not zero'ed out ? Just to add something else for you.. read through this kit writeup. It will make it all make more sense (it did for me) I know this is S10 stuff, but I promise I used this kit on my 96 S10 ext cab it has ZERO vibration in it anywhere. It is smoother now than it was from the factory. I'm sure the same concept applies to our C10s. http://www.jagsthatrun.com/Pages/Par...aft-Align.html

Re: driveshaft angle with pix
I might have at max a 1/4" to play with. It is pretty tight between the tunnel and trans.

Re: driveshaft angle with pix
CC69.
THe pinion rotates up. THat's why some people install a pinion snubber on the nose of the rearend to limit the upwards travel. |

Yep, the shims go directly under the axle perches.
