I am working on a 2000 Tahoe 4WD with a 5.3L. 135K Miles. It looks like I will be replacing the rear main seal and the oil pan gasket. Does the rear main seal require any special tools to install ? Or just pry out and tap in new seal ? Thanks in advance

Re: Rear Main ?
Thanks ! That must be a GM Special service tool ? Unfortunately I didnt get that far today. I got tied up with other work... I had a heck of a time getting the studs on the tranny though

I dont know why Im thinking about this right now since Im off of work... but would it be easier to remove the torsion bars & crossmember or remove the transfer case off the tranny to do the rear main seal ? I think Ive drunk too much tonight
