bad throttle response
my '72 GMC TRUCK has very bad throttle response from dead stand still...just wondering if this could be because of bad remanufactured Quadrajet, or bad detent cable, or what...

Re: bad throttle response
How did it run or respond before the reman Q-Jet? Can you look into the top of the carb and see it squirt fuel when you open the throttle?
When you say detent cable do you mean the cable from the carb to the trans that controls down shifts? That would not likely have anything to do with performance from a dead stand still. |

Re: bad throttle response
look for stuck choke, faulty or weak accelerator pump, stuck secondaries, or linkage that doesn't open the throttle blades.
Any black smoke out the back or popping when you hit the gas?

Re: bad throttle response
Old accelerator pump rubber doesn't like ethanol.

Re: bad throttle response
If you don't see gas squirting out when you activate the throttle, acclerator pump is not working right. Could be they installed it improperly or it could be float is maladjusted.
