broken hood latch cable

Ive tugged pulled with anything and everything I got and it wont open. My guess is the little weight on the end of thr cable came out of place...anyone got a sure fire way of being able to pull the latch open? I've heard of pulling out the wheel well or trying to pull out the grill..before I break something else anyone got any suggestions on opening the hood to my 81 Chevy?

Re: broken hood latch cable

wheni got the front clip for my truck the hood and all was closed, so i couldnt open it
what i had to do was pry the hood open a little bit and get a ratched and a swivel or 2 and take the bolts off and thats how i got mine open without no cable

Re: broken hood latch cable

i think Kieth mentioned a flat/curved piece of steel was kept around for that
but if it's out of wack,
sometimes (my 88 is now)you hit the top of hood to pop it after pulling knob

A little WD-40 in the latch makes that problem go away.
