What to pay? 48 chevy
Hey everyone, I am going this Saturday to pick up my 47 3/4 ton chevy from the same guy I got the 51 GMC from. He also has a 48 chevy half ton for sale too. It is just a cab on a frame with a 3/4 ton front axle. The cab is pretty rough what little bit of the radiator support is on there looks like it has been wrecked. The frame looks good and untouched for modifications. He does have a box for it and maybe some decent fenders. What would be a safe offer? He told me that he told one guy $400 for it since there was so much interest in the GMC I bought. I really just want the frame and maybe all the fenders if they are useable. I was thinking like maybe $200 for it?
Also the guy has like a 1-1/2 ton GMC truck, might even be a tow truck I don't remember. I know the fenders, hood, and grill are different, but what about doors and cabs?

Cab/doors are same as 1/2 & 3/4 tons. Prices vary but looks like you got some good deals already!!

Re: What to pay? 48 chevy
Cabs and doors are the same up through conventional 2 tons. I'm using the back half of a 1-1/2 ton cab as the back half of my stretched cab on my 48.
Doors are 47/50 51 by it's self and 52/53 as far as exact interchange. All will interchange and bolt on though. I'm going to look at what's left of an AD truck later this week as I think it may have a good set of long bed running boards and a somewhat decent cab that is missing the doors, fenders and grill. It's been sitting beside the road for sale for over two months so it may be overpriced but I need the running boards. I'm in sticker shock these days as the most I have ever paid for one of these trucks is 100 and I bought two 1-1/2 ton trucks for 100 for the pair two years ago. They were in a town off the beaten path that doesn't have any scrappers around to run prices up.
