My 69 307 had a cartridge style. I think they were still using up some old stock in that year and you might get either/or

My 69 C20 came with a cartridge filter. It's a 350 however. Not sure that matters.

Re: my everyday driver 1969

The cartridge - spin-on filter question!

All small block truck motors shifted from cartridge filters to spin on filters in 1969. There is some overlap, as the model year '69 trucks began being built in late 1968, while the filter shift happened after January 1st of 1969. My '69 C10 (engine build date Dec 12 1968) has a cartridge style filter.

Ok now i'm cooking. So what about the clearance lights ? I hated them at first but now I'm starting to think. How many c10s were built with this option on the 1/2 ton?

Re: my everyday driver 1969

No idea how many trucks were built, but I own one

I really dislike the original lens that was on it. The square body trucks ('73-'86) had better looking ones which fit our trucks

Far better looking in my opinion. The clearance lights are distinctive and awesome though!

You are correct. Those are the OEM correct lenses that came from the factory. So far as I know they are not replicated, pretty sure when the newer lenses I posted that picture of came out they stopped making them. I have an OEM spare in the box that came with my truck!

Re: my everyday driver 1969

for some weird reason, I thought the fireman's hats were the standard clearance light shape on C10s and 20s and the pucks were a C30 thing. I believe that may be a flawed theory now!?

Could you pls post a SPID pic? I'm curious now. You definitely have a clearance light cab - and that is awesome. I'd definitely keep the lights. Wish I had a clearance light cab on my C20! If you aren't really sure about the pucks, I'm almost certain the fireman's hats screw into the same mounting holes in the mount pads - you might like those better. If you like the pucks, by all means keep em - very unique. I've never seen them on a C10, but clearly they were available. Or perhaps someone put them on in place of original fireman's hats?? Truck looks very nice!

Here is a picture of my SPID for a 1/2 ton with markers.

The hockey pucks were the original lens on all trucks 67-72 with factory lamps. They seem to be prone to cracking and fading, so most of them have been replaced with the "fireman's hats", which are the '73-'86 style and are a direct fit replacement.

Yep, you have the same option U01 as mine.

You'll note that there is a raised pad stamped into the roof skin where the lights sit, which was only done on trucks which had factory lights.

Re: my everyday driver 1969

The '69s had Hockey Puck and from 70-91 they had the Fireman's Hat. Actually, the date code on the Guide lens is 69,so probably late-69s started getting them. It could be they were first made in '69 for the first '70s. The Hockey Puck lenses are rare. Do they say 68 or 69?
