6 cyl to V8 swap...

Hey guys, I'm new to this forum, having just acquired a 1960 c20. I have done some searching and can't seem to find a thread describing swapping out a 6 banger for a v8! I am sure there is one, just haven't found it yet. I would be interested in where I can find motor mounts etc. The truck currently has a 6 with a 3- speed column shift. I have a '66 327 out of a wrecked 'Vette that has been in a couple of hot rods I built in the past. I also have a th350 with a B+M shift kit. It would be easier to adapt the V8 to the 3-speed but don't know what is involved. (New bell housing?)

Hi and welcome. I did almost the same thing 2 weeks ago I had a I6/ power glide in my 64 and went to a 350/ th350 swap. All I needed was to new rubber motor mounts from Autozone for a 72 with a V8. And a new trans mount from the same truck. Mine were all worn out....All in all I spent under $30 including tax. The I6 has a metal perch that connects to the frame then the rubber mount( that I replaced) and then another metal mount that attaches to the motor. The one that is on the motor needs to come off and the V8 will mount directly to the rubber mount.
Now for the bell housing I think are the th350 should just bolt right to the back of the 327...I would do that prior to installing into truck...and just drop it all in at one time..

Now a word to the wise from the un- knowing... please put the tranny mount on BEFORE you put it in to the truck. That was a 2 hr mistake for me.

As brb90zc indicated the stock perches do work for mounting a V8. As you can see in the lower left hand side of the picture, you just bolt in the perches and then bolt the mounts to the perches. I have a 350 mounted in my 65 Step Side. Good luck, this is pretty straight forward.
