PTFE vs Rubber line fittings

Help me out here guys, I've never even touched PTFE in a project before.

I decided to re-do some parts of my fuel system that had regular Fuel injection rubber line, since the NHRA rule doesn't seem to like that stuff

The rest of my system is mostly -6 AN braided stainless rubber-core line, and was assembled like I'm used to. But on ordering some new -8 AN stuff for part of the feed, I somehow ordered (or was sent) -8 PTFE. To make it more confusing, the two -8 fittings I ordered are from 2 manufacturers and look completely different.

Fitting #1 they sent me, -8 straight swivel AN fitting with the connection type I'm used to (small threads all the way up).


Fitting #2 from Aeroquip; -8 90* swivel, but with an end that has a ferrule on it.


Here is the hose




I'm guessing I can't use all this stuff together. Should I return the ptfe hose and find the regular rubber core to use fitting style #1 like I'm used to...or should I return fitting #1 and find a straight -8 that matches the style of fitting #2?

I would returmn the ptfe stuff. It's for ultra high pressure (brake lines and P.S. hose ) I run a 58psi Magnafuel system on the LS buggy with regular ol an-6 with no hint of leaks or weeping For whatever thats worth. Just an opinion

To add to what Marv is saying, not only have I run 58psi for years through standard -6 -8 -10 but I am now running E85 through new -6 -8 -10 and -12 summit brand braided stainless. I have left it in the cell for 3 months, no weeping and no leakage.

Alright well I got some rubber lined -8 and a regular AN 90* on the way, the PTFE is in the return pile. Now if only it would stay above 45* outside I could drive the thing.

It is interesting that this post was brought to the top. I popped a fuel line earlier this year, -8 high pressure summit brand braided stainless. It looked at though it may had rubbed the bottle bracket so I did not think much of it.

This weekend however, same -8 (just a bit shorter now) popped again at an event pulling it off the trailer. There were no signs of running and all the braided was in perfect shape.

According to summit it was E85 friendly (non PTFE) when I bought it. I am at a point where I think I need to redo all the lines on the truck. Question is, PTFE or mostly hard line?

Hard line as much as possible IMO. Every hose system can be adapted to and from hard tube, and anything from Kerosene to pure Methanol wont hurt it.

Some of the older rubber lined hose will "melt" after a while . The newer stuff seems alcohol resistant . I have all newer stuff and have had no problems . I am also E85 . I don't see how you get the fuel uphill in the last picture.

I redid mine less than 3 years ago. Summit promised it was the new synthetic hose that was e85 acceptable.

I ran 1/2" aluminum tubing. Just have to check your connections every now and then because of vibration. Was easy to bend and install.
