Maybe if you measure the width of the original doors, then measure the repops you will find that the repops are too wide in that area. I have heard guys mention that on here.

Re: Outer window sweeps/seals too thin

I have factory original doors. I bought all new door and window rubber and I too have a gap between the glass and outside scrapper. I can't remember where I got them. I think they came from Classic....bet Brothers has a better product.

Re: Outer window sweeps/seals too thin

Thanks y'all
I got rid of about 6 doors already
And I don't have one to measure but I don't
Think it's to wide cause the wing window &
The vertical guides fit perfect
Seems like alot of people would have
Had this problem
What do you do Jojaboy drill drain holes?
I don't wanna go there I've put in way
To much time into fixin holes to start putting in

These doors tend to spread out, thats why they ended up putting the screw in them below the rear of the wind wings in 72. Its not really right to blame the suppliers on this one.

Re: Outer window sweeps/seals too thin

The doors get water in them. Look at the bottom, there's a drain area on both sides of the door, on both factory doors and aftermarket. Even brand new vehicles have them still. Just coat the inside (especially the bottom) with a rust paint and you should be fine.

As for the 1/4" gap, that's way too much. Something is off. Post pics.

Re: Outer window sweeps/seals too thin

Thanks for the reply guys
As far as the door spreading they are new
Repos and it's both doors I will try to post
Pics later
I know they leak and have weep holes but I can
See the plate that the glass fits into
The windows roll up & down perfect and don't rattle

REVISIT SUBJECT....Anyone come up with a solution on this? I'm guessing that over the past 45 years the door has just separated and now the window sweeps don't touch the glass.

From a different post....

I squeezed it to the right distance with my hand, and hit it with a spot weld. Problem solved.

I don't know about the doors but these are the best window felts/sweeps I have found. Made in the USA by Clark Industries, Pearcy, AR and go by the "Repops" brand.

http://www.classicindustries.com/tru...ts/cr1073.html

The only difference in the two sets is one is stainless and one is chrome plated stainless...

There may be other vendors on here that sell the same brand (I hope they post up if they do) but I think the manufacturer is pretty selective who they let distribute the product.

I borrowed the pictures and links from another thread.

Re: Outer window sweeps/seals too thin

I'd have thought that someone would have produced an extra thick felt side to take up the gap in these trucks by now?

Those were the same brand I got from GMC Pauls. Outers seem great, Inner felts, not so much. Within 5-10 times of rolling the windows up and down, the felt is separating from the base.

Agreed! GMCpaul seems to have figured out what products are best in regards to rubber trim.

Re: Outer window sweeps/seals too thin

Its our understanding that Re-Pops makes the 4pc beltlines ( anti-rattle sets ) for precision. So if you buy re-pops its the same as buying Precision.
