parts cost for static drop

Was trying to find out the total parts cost to lower a 1969 c10 shortbed
Not sure what the lowest static drop is but thats what id be inquiring about. Thanks guys
A buddy offered to bag my truck just seeing the price differential between the two

Hahah if I went static itd be the lowest I can go.dont mind notching the frame

If I bag it id do a setup similar to my chopped 1949 ford
2 compressors one large tank , 3/8 valves
Dont need all the fancy digital gauges to read the psi thats in the bags, or any of the other extras.


Dont know what is offered.on my 49 there are no kits so we had to have a triangulated 4 link done up after we took some measurents.

I really dont have a need for the side to side stuff, its not a 64' impala lol
Just trying to keep it as simple as possible. Not over the top with all the bells and whistles.my 49 is my show car, this is more of a rough around the edges daily driver.I like the look of an all original c10 with patina on airbags . Just need this one to lay frame, and go up /down :-)

If I were going the show route id opt for all the bells and whistles.this one im gonna drive for a bit then sell, so im trying to keep the spending to a minimum

Since you didn't say,... I will assume your truck is a coil spring truck, not leaf spring?

Comparing the cost of bags vs static drop is not the same.
Bags are just air springs.
They will replace the coil springs.
The added cost of the air management can't be figured in.

But,... both suspensions will need:
Drop spindles
Disc brake conversion
Drop shocks
Rear shock relocators
Adjustable track bar.

Im new to these trucks. My truck looks to have coil springs, no leafs to be found in the rear.

I would assume your truck had coil springs on all four corners.

Most have coil springs in the rear.
Leaf springs were optional.
Just didn't want to "assume".

Depends what u want to spend. Cheap coil spring drop couple hundred $. Spindles and disc brakes notch and shocks and etc etc $1000 or more. Bags will be a couple grand or more with air management and proper install. What do u want to spend? The lower u want to be and still be able to drive, the more it will cost. I just spent like $4000 on my suspension without even factoring in labour costs. It's not cheap to do things properly.

I know we did the front in my shoebox ford in very little time. Im sure on the truck its fairly similar , and the lesser cost of the whole setup.grab these for the front


I found a rear setup that is pretty straight forward from *************
Considering it for the rear. They make good stuff, my shoebox has a 4link by them and its never had one issue

So sounds like you made up your mind...? If you want it to lay frame, call Porterbuilt!! His suspension kits with a manual air system set up is as easy as it gets!

I sent porterbuilt an email as far as what options I have. If I was keeping this truck a long time id go for the nicest/high end route.
This truck im gonna sell in the near future.gonna drive it a little bit once completed than let someone else enjoy it.
Since I know im selling it and its not a keeper I dont want to spend $6, 000 on a bag setup

Thanks JNJ, I just wanted to double check. Removing the original motor this weekend.its only got 48, 000
Miles just has been sitting.gonna clean/repaint engine compartment/firewall.then change some gaskets swap new accessories while its out. As soon as its running well, brakes are ok ill order up that kit and some other needed components for the air ride. Should be quite a change from current height

I probably went as mid grade as you can go disc swap from doner, 4/6 drop with springs and spindles, drop shocks relocators and delux panhard bar, drop trailing arm member (not needed) . Then i cut the frame between steering box and core support brackets dropped the horns 3 in,relocated cab mounts on frame raised floor 2 in in the center,flipped the bed brackets, gained a 3 " body drop. Front bumper is 5" off floor rear about 8" with tall tires. Now if i did a notch added a block in the rear and installed bags aired out id be close to the dirt. Also where im at now is at the verge of trimming front fenders and aftermarket hood hinges. Its going to be close if i go larger on tires deffinatly!
