Im thinking about running a 79 Blazer gas tank in my 58 apache. Has anyone else put one of these tanks in their truck? Any pics? Thanks in advance..

Re: Anyone running a Blazer Gas tank?

I did for years in my 56, just swapped it out for a more shallow one, did not need the extra gallons like I did when I drove it to work everyday. This was the poly one. I made brackets for the side out of two piece of angle iron welded to the frame.

Re: Anyone running a Blazer Gas tank?

im looking at the 25 gal tank. it is like 33" wide so it so fit right into the frame with little mods. so i think i am going to pull the trigger and get one. will post pics when i get it.

Re: Anyone running a Blazer Gas tank?

I found this article where someone used a 1987 Blazer tank on a 1957 truck

My old one is sitting in the garage with the sender. Its dirty from use on the outside. Not sure what the shipping would be from Washington, but if you want it we can work out shipping charges only.

Re: Anyone running a Blazer Gas tank?

I tried to use a 40 gallon suburban tank and ultimately decided against it. You may have more room since your truck is a tf series though. It just hung way too low for me. Here is a thread i started about it that may be of interest to ya:

This a a shot of the s10 blazer tank i ended up using. It worked out really well. The tank only cost 60 bucks from rock auto, i also piced up a new pump/ sender and some stock s10 blazer straps. I would buy it again.

I used the stock straps, just had to cut about 2" out of the middle and welded them back together.

Re: Anyone running a Blazer Gas tank?

I cut the stock neck down and used that. My bed floor will be raised due to the step notch, so gas filler will be in the floor.
