Re: smog pump removal...

If you do take that stuff off just remember, we are in California. Just cuz we don't have to smog are old rigs yet, does not mean you should throw that stuff away! I had a '75 GMC Sprint with a Laguna nose that had a rather warmed over 383 that had no smog parts at all. I even went as far as getting a 73 trans crossmember so my headers/dual exhaust routed nice. I tossed all the brackets, pump, lines, canister, original trans crossmember (for the now thrown away cat) intake w/egr, thermostat housing w/tvs, etc, etc, never thinking I would ever have to smog it! Guess what, BIG lesson learned on that one! I don't toss anything nowadays! Keep those parts!

Re: smog pump removal...

Have done all of this..including the required reinstall years ago. But my truck is
totally unencombered now. Yeah, just get some plugs. Mine are square headed
vs. hex, but they all plug the same. Cant rememberwhere I got them though.

Best thing about doing this is no more pump squeeks, squeels, noise. And a
much cleaner look under the hood.
