Drop in bed liner?
Anyone have a drop in bed liner in there truck. I saw a few trucks on eBay with them, and a I want one for my 72 swb. Anyone using one ?

I've never used one.I've seen a few trucks that had them.They tend to rub the paint off where they touch and then rust starts.

mine came with one. Found a bunch of surface rust under it. and a badly welded plate to cover the hole where a 5th wheel hitch used to be. It was ugly and slippery as ice. seemed like bad idea to me so I cut it up and tossed it.

There was one on my 2004 Silverado when I bought it, back in the day. It absolutely scratch the living hell out of the bedside. Some of the scratches buffed out, but there were several that were all the way down to metal. It was the model that covered the top edge of the bed. I'd look into other options.

I want a Wood bed in my Truck too But I want to be able to Haul things...So maybe a Rubber mat ?

I have both. I like the drop in for certain things, but I like the mat for different other stuff.
My drop in laps over the top so I have some camper tape on the part that lays on the top of bed.It came out of 85 Dodge that a friend had. |

If you have a shell or deck lid I would use some carpet or some type of soft material. My truck has had a carpet rug and it has preserve the original bed paint pretty well but I've always had a shell and now a deck lid on it.

I had a drop in bedliner in my 69 shortbox... Left rust and things slid all over in the bed. I was very happy to get rid of it and get a spray in.

Not a fan of drop-ins. Had them in several trucks. In my Tundra I now have a Bed Rug, which is awesome. Nothing slides on it, and its very easy on the knees.
In my Chevy I'm thinking Line-X once I get everything else done.

I will NEVER use a drop-in bedliner again! Too prone to rubbing against the bed metal and, if you have any sand/dirt/etc. between the liner and the bed, it acts like sandpaper. Plus, even my dog doesn't like a bedliner...too slippery for him!! LOL

Used to have a drop in. It was given to me and sort of fit my truck. Cut away the top flange and used it only to haul home bulk cubes and pellets. Made unloading into barrels nice. But it did not stay in the truck. Out here sand will blow into and gather under them grinding everything. Seen them actually ground through from the bottom, not a good thing.
