Need water pump for 99 tahoe
My 99 Tahoe needs a water pump and I was looking at prices online and it says it is highly reccomended to replace the fan clutch at same time? I never heard this, is this a must and why?

Re: Need water pump for 99 tahoe
I replaced the water pump on my '00 Silverado. I've never read or heard anything like this. Why fix it if it works properly? I would suggest, however, replacing the thermostat while you have everything apart. Mine went out about 10K after I replaced the water pump.

On a 99 Tahoe, the thermostat is not housed in the water pump, it's on the intake manifold. Its up to you if you want to replace it. I wouldn't replace the fan clutch unless there is something wrong with it.
