4 core radiator retainers
Well after some investigation I have found that the radiator that was in my truck appears to be from a 70ish Chevelle. Last week I ordered a new 3 core radiator which was marked for a C10, but after further research it too was for a Chevelle. My problem is with the retainers that bolt to the core support. The tank on the drivers side will accept the standard 3 core mount. The tank on the passenger side is nearly 1" wider and the previous owner made cuts in the 3 core mount to make it fit also pictured below. I'm asking someone to measure the rubber mount area for me and possibly snap a picture to see if I can order a 4 core retainer for the passenger side.
Thanks! Stock retainers, the bottom one has the cuts Old radiator, you can see the difference in end tank thickness Measured the thickness of the driver side tank on the new radiator And the thickness on the passenger side Posted via Mobile Device |

Re: 4 core radiator retainers
There is almost an inch difference between the 2-3 core and 4 core mounts

Re: 4 core radiator retainers
Order the correct ones from Wes at Clkassic Heartbeat. It's where I got my 4 core rad retainers. They were original GM, and came in NOS packaging. I was quite suprised to see that.

Thanks vidman that was exactly what I was looking for. Looks like I need 4 core mounts for the passenger side.

Re: 4 core radiator retainers
Great pics vidman.
Was after some info regarding the differences between radiator mounts. Your pics with a measuring tape for clarification were exactly what I needed. Nicely done sir. |
