Rear seat mounting

So I have finally acquired all the rear seat mounts to bolt in the rear seat. I still plan to recover the seat but want to get a little input on the floor. The prior owner did a pretty decent resto but the truck is still a little apart. All the rear bolts for the rear seat are removed from the floor. I know the rear four "legs" of the seat bolt to the floor and basically there are some metal strips that they sit on then one bolt goes into the floor through the mount. Mine has no strips and I am unsure what the PO did with them. I'm sure I can make some. Another issue is all the other mount points are gone. Basically just holes in the floor. Luckily I do have four heavy duty mounting bolts that the bolts for the seats bolt into. I'm pretty sure they are for the seat belts. My question is where do they go? They look like they go on the four corners of the seat since those holes are larger. Also how did the original mounting points for the rest of the seat go in? Was it just a bolt and nut or is there more to it? Last I remember the bed floor had mounting points and no climbing under the truck to hold a nut was necessary.

Re: Rear seat mounting

Hey Blazerowner, sorry man, I`m at work so I can`t look at mine to help. I`ll try to remember and take pics tonight.

If you ever check out any local shows or looking to meet up with other blazers let me know. I check the California section a lot and have found great events and people. Look forward to seeing your Blazer one of these days. Nick

Re: Rear seat mounting

Ya if I see something I can make I will definitely look into it. I have a few things to get done before I can get out and drive. The truck uses a ton of fuel so I think there might be an issue with the fuel pump. I have a replacement so just a matter of getting out there and swapping. Hopefully I can get an idea how the seat goes in so I can start putting it back together. I also plan to make a bikini top soon so that's on the agenda. The sun is too much.

Re: Rear seat mounting

I know how the seat bolts in what I'm missing is the mounting points in the floor. I basically have holes where threaded nuts or mounting points should be in the floor.

Re: Rear seat mounting

If the front has the holes in the floor, and your seat has the front stands, then you need the rear seat hold down brackets. They bolt to the floor, and clamp the seat down. Here is a pic I found on the board, didn't want to dig mine out to take a pic.

Re: Rear seat mounting

Those pictures help a lot. I figured there was some kind of nut under the bed. I assume they are welded in. I guess I can re-weld some regular nuts back in. I just bought some after market hold downs like the picture above.

Re: Rear seat mounting

Are these original? They were removed from the outer four corners where the seat mounts. I don't see them in the pics

Re: Rear seat mounting

I have the same problem, mine was a utility model and had no back seat. I have everything for the back seat except for the floor mounting patches. Could someone call out some dimensions from a reference point to where the seat mounts (eg front of rear floor surface). I can fab anything just dont have another truck close by to measure, and want the rear seat in the "right" spot.

Re: Rear seat mounting

Those look like newer model seat belt bolts. You see them in like 90 and up Chevy's.

Re: Rear seat mounting

So im guessing someone added them in. The truck originally had a rear seat. I'll prob keep those and just world in a plate and nut for the rest.

Re: Rear seat mounting

Did your Blazer not come with a rear seat originally? It was optional, but usually the mounting plates and nuts were there. Only the Passenger seat I thought would not have them if not ordered with it.

Re: Rear seat mounting

Ya it originally had a rear seat but has been restored recently. Who knows what happened in 40 years to the original mounts.

Re: Rear seat mounting

Um, weird. There should be nuts with the holes in the rear of the rear seat. If not they are likely stripped out. I would drill and retap and upsize the bolts. The fronts are the clamps shown above. The rear seat belts use the same bolts and bolt down with the rear seats. The bolts you show in the pic are not 69-72. I used anti-seize on stainless steel bolts after I chased the threads with a tap to clean them up.
