New member from the pine belt

Just bought myself an 81 c10 stepside and boy does it need some electrical work. The alternator doesnt charge the battery and most of the idiot lights dont work. I'm replacing the front brake rotors, pads, wheel bearings, and seals today. The clutch also needs to be replaced but it still works for now. It has a 305 v8 and a three speed with a granny low on the floor. I'll post some pictures at a later date.

Welcome to the site I am also new here. Electrical issues can be tough but I would start with looking for fusible link re: alternator. Bad grounds are common for electrical faults and any wiring not installed by the factory needs to be checked carefully.
