Sway bar bushing
Hey guys
I was installing the sway bar and noticed that the angle of the sway bar at the lower arm on the passenger side was at an angle not up or down but from drivers side to passenger side and when I lower the truck back on the ground the bushing started to pop out where the split is. Is the split of the bushing supposed to be on one side or the other? I have seen in other pictures both ways. The bar was straight and lined up between the bolt holes on the a arm. What should I do? Re drill the inside bolt hole towards the back of the truck so the bushing sits at the same angle as the sway bar? Posted via Mobile Device

Re: Sway bar bushing
Ok that's cool. I just put on my sway bar too. I doesn't matter which way the split on the bushings go on. There should be 2 bends on each end of the bar where it clamps to the a arm

Re: Sway bar bushing
You've likely got the bar on upside down. It's easy to do and will cause the bushings to open up like that since the angle is wrong.

Re: Sway bar bushing
I looked at the forum and the sway arm has a curve to keep it away from the steering pitman arm and idler arm. Right. ?

Re: Sway bar bushing
I've put a bunch of them on over the years, and just a few months ago, I put mine on upside down until I figured out my mistake. It's easy to do.
Here it is after I turned it over the right way. It was prying the bushings open like you describe before I flipped it over right. Posted via Mobile Device |

Re: Sway bar bushing
I took the wheels off and reset the bushing and maid sure the bushing was seated as I tightened it. It seems to be ok we will see once I get the alignment and drive her.

Re: Sway bar bushing
It's silver vein powdercoat. I order it from NIC Prismatic. Their powder has the most pronounced vein effect of all of them out there that I've ever seen.
