Truck going for paint tomarrow

Well got all the holes filled ( DEBADGED ) and now it goes for paint tomarrow. The guy that filled the holes said he couldn't fill the small rust holes in the cab corners, they need replaced. I ordered the large ones from LMC and now not going to use them. I got second opinions AFTER I ordered them, mainly because the guy that was going to do them, WENT OUT OF TOWN THIS WEEKEND. Well everyone said don't put those corners on because the holes were to small to take. That risk of tearing all that apart. Well, now I have the large CAB CORNERS, I guess I'm going to give EBAY a try. I only paid $60 with shipping, not worth it to send back.

Anyway, I will post pictures when it's done

I wouldn't use lmc's corners anyway. They're wayy too thin.

Re: Truck going for paint tomarrow

You would have to double up those LMC's to match what came for the factory.

Who makes a good cab corner? I have a couple different ones in the garage and they both seem to be slip overs and kinda thin.

Re: Truck going for paint tomarrow

Well it's starting out as Victory RED, but he is going to darken some. Still contemplating on the TWO BLACK STRIPES, but also contemplating a dark tint put in the CLEAR COAT....but can't go to dark because the door jams and such are not getting painted

Is it the truck in your profile pic? Sounds like it's going to be awesome.

Yes, it's the one in the photo. I hope it does turn out good. I don't want it to be real dark because I want the door jams to still match....

Re: Truck going for paint tomarrow

I love Victory Red. GM has used this color (I think) for the past eight or more years. This is the color I will be painting my 84 long bed. It is now also two tone OE Chevy Apple Red and beige and going with all Victory Red.

Re: Truck going for paint tomarrow

I think that is what I'm going to go with, I don't want the door jams to be so different it looks like crap. Still contemplating the two black stripes....

Generally you only use the part of the patch panel that you really need. You cut out the thin metal and then cut the patch panel to match your hole.

Re: Truck going for paint tomarrow

I'm not sure if I will be putting on any stripes on mine after the paint. I am also getting the door jams painted Victory Red. It will look fine with the OE Red. Most of the inside is also a beige. Not really sure what color it is for sure. But it will look fine. I like the two tones but prefer the solid color.

I used the LMC corners and structural adhesive. It's going on 4 years now and they are doing fine.

Probably too late now but you can check my built/intro thread (around page 4) if you are curious.

Re: Truck going for paint tomarrow

Code 72 Apple Red in Base coat/clear coat (originally was high solid enamel).

Re: Truck going for paint tomarrow

Apple Red high solid enamel was the original paint on my truck. I am sure it looks much better with the Base coat/Clear coat of today on it. But I just love that Victory Red. Corvetts (sp) are painted Victory Red. The way I spelled "Corvetts" just does not look right. Anyway, close enough. lol

Re: Truck going for paint tomarrow

Myself, I think that is a good idea. Again, that is MO. There are a lot of nice reds out there but I prefer Victory Red Base Coat/Clear Coat.
