Exclamation Keep bench seat or Buddy Buckets ?

I know this probably shouldn't be an issue but its driving me crazy.

Here is my scenario.

I have a 68 SWB , with black / White / Grey / interior. The bench seat was re upholstered by the PO and the dash pad as well and has a matching steering wheel that matches everything really well and gives it a nice clean look. Here is what my truck looks like .

Now a few days ago i got some buddy buckets in decent shape really cheap. I installed them on the truck to see how they feel and they feel awesome and look good ( minus the tears / color ).

The problem is this. I dont want to re upholster the buckets now, i might do it in a year or so ( dont drive the truck much , still needs some minor engine fixes ) and if I do put in these buckets in I will change the steering wheel and dash pad to match the color of the bucket ( more than likely black ) .

Here is how the bucket looks.

So the scenarios are

A. Keep the bench seat , everything stays the same, sell the buckets and use the money to buy some Coy C5 or Boss 338

B. Sell the Grey bench seat, Grey dash pad , Grey steering wheel and use that money to buy the seat covers and matching dash pad and steering wheel ?

Yeah, absolutely. These make for the ultimate love wagon, with that bench seat.

If it were me, I'd keep the bench seat, and put in a nice vinyl cover instead of the cloth, and then change the steering wheel. Those small, thick wheels look out of place to me, but hey that's just how I see it

X2... Plus you'll have extra storage and an arm rest with the buckets If your girl goes for a ride all you have to do is flip the center up

Re: Keep bench seat or Buddy Buckets ?

I restored a set of buddy's and put em in my K20. They looked great but in the end I preferred the overall feel and utility of the bench so I swapped back. This is another one of those things that will just boil down to personal preference.

Re: Keep bench seat or Buddy Buckets ?

Have the BB's done to match what you have. Keep the bench stored and try the new buddies. Then after a few months either could be sold to recoup all or part of your investment. BB's would go out the door quickly in a gray or black.

Re: Keep bench seat or Buddy Buckets ?

I have buddy buckets in my 1968 and a bench seat in my 1972. The bench seat is more comfortable.

Re: Keep bench seat or Buddy Buckets ?

Looks great guys!

I am going to keep the buckets and sell the bench to fund the upholstery for the buckets.

Also if i go this route and I can get atleast $300 for the bench, that would mean I would have these buckets and brand new upholstery for $300
