20x10" -> 5.BS, 5.25BS, or 5.5BS?
I realize there are over 3 pages of threads for BS, backspacing, and wheel offset. But, for the price of special order wheels, I'd like to feel a little more comfortable with what I need for the rears.
I've got a '68 SWB with the stock 55.5" rearend. I'd like to order a pair of 20x10's for the rear, but need to make sure they'll tuck with no issues. The truck will be a static drop using Nate's coilover kit with 4 link in the back. I'm guessing it will be close to 8" of drop in the rear at ride height. I plan on driving this thing pretty hard in the turns, and will have some tire flex from time to time. It's not important to me to have a wider lip, clearance is my concern. Is 5BS safe, or should I consider 5.25BS to be sure to clear? Thanks in advance for your help! Posted via Mobile Device |

Nates truck has the narrower rearend (55.5") with 20x10 with 4.75" BS.
Perfect for a static dropped truck. His is a 4.5/6 drop. Hope this picture helps. Personally,... I wouldn't buy wheels until the suspension is done, so you can measure everything.

I hate buying these before the truck is together too, but I've got a deadline and these can take 2 months to receive. Does everyone match the front BS to the front for a consistent lip? Posted via Mobile Device |

Re: 20x10" -> 5.BS, 5.25BS, or 5.5BS?
For a low static dropped truck,... 5" BS on a 20x8.5 wheel,... isn't enough up front to be able to turn the wheels inside the fenders.
n2billets newest truck is running a Dropmember. He has 20x8.5 (5.25"BS) wheels up front with the Dropmember's already narrow front end and narrowed PB a-arms. The rear wheels are 22x10 (with 5.5" BS) and the narrower rearend to clear the bedsides when layed out.

The Touring and Mild Dropmembers only narrow the track width .25" per side.

Re: 20x10" -> 5.BS, 5.25BS, or 5.5BS?
I'll be running Wilwood discs in the rear. Nate's suggestion is 5.25BS for the rear.
Narrow control arms aren't available for coilovers. Would 5.25BS in the rear on a 20x10 wheel look like crap with a 20x8.5 with 5BS up front? Posted via Mobile Device Last edited by sighlurr; 06-04-2013 at 04:41 PM. |

Re: 20x10" -> 5.BS, 5.25BS, or 5.5BS?
Wow, it's been nearly a month since you asked your question. I hope you got it sorted out before you ordered your wheels. You probably already know this, but more backspacing = less lip; given the same size wheel width. 8.5"-5" = 3.5" (leaves no room for the wheel center thickness). Assuming the mount pad and wheel center are 2" thick, the lip would be 1.5" wide. 10"-5.25" = 4.75", again assuming 2" thickness, rear lip would be 2.75". Your rear wheel would still have a wider lip.
Now I do not know the thickness of the mount pad and the wheel center, so this will not be an accurate measurement for your wheel lip. If this number is 3" instead, then you'll have a 0.5" lip up front and a 1.75" lip in the rear. Just know that these numbers are only to give you an idea of how it measures between front and back. I hope this helps and good luck!

What I want to know is when did they start saying the diameter before the width and why did it change? It was always width then the diameter,forever,till recently.

Umm..... Gee wizz I remember it as (example) 20.0"x8.5" always but what the hell do I know.
What I want to know is did you do all 44,xxx plus posts personally yourself and on this site? Is that an accurate number? How many is that per day? Is that some kind of record? Sorry to threadjack but inquiring minds want to know? Is it so? Posted via Mobile Device

What I think is even more amazing is the fact that Keith (lolife99) has so much knowledge of these trucks stored in his noggin. You sir are an asset to the forum. This is why this forum is so good, lots of people all willing to share what they know to help others continue the tradition that we love. Thanks fellas.
