I think trucks are cheaper in Oregon

I was browsing craigslist today, and came across a couple of decent looking trucks. I think I got a better deal on my 69 gmc, but that was thirteen years ago.

68 GMC with newer brakes, $2250

There's a lot of higher priced trucks, but those seem to be listed for a long time with the price dropping every other week or so.

Not true. Wet means rust. Oregon gets wet, stays wet.
Oregon is rural and trucks are rod hard and put away...you guessed it...wet.

Not all Oregon trucks are rust buckets. My 69 GMC has the original paint and has always been garaged. I'll take some pictures (hopefully this weekend) and post them.

Not all of Oregon is wet. 2/3's of the state is desert.
But those trucks are in Portand, wet but at least no salt..

A lot of folks are in the dark on Oregon, he'll most can't even pronounce the name properly ? Every time I hear some one call it OR O Gon I want to scream ! I ask people back east on trips to explain where Oregon is located and you can't believe the answers ? Yes it is wet, but that is along the coast and inland until you hit the mountains, the central and eastern areas are quite dry most of the year. I have 3 67-72 pick-ups, all bought in Oregon, I am on the east side where there is no rust at all to speak of, but two of mine have the typical rocker problems, but my 68'GMC has not a speck, came from the Boise, ID area. Being from Florida originally I just love the state and welcome you to come visit us, we have a lot to show you, this state is big and beautifull. I wish everyone a great weekend .

Yep. Shore to mountain top. Rain forest to desert - all within a day's drive or less. The Pacific Northwest is a wondrous place. Being transplanted from there to the mid-Atlantic, I'd say the prices here are definitely higher. No doubt due to reduced availability from excessive road salt.

Oregon is beautiful. Yes. In fact America is beautiful.
However, trucks aren't cheaper.
Yes the cascades produce a rain shadow just like the Sierra Nevada do. 4/5 of the population is west of the cascades and mostly along the I-5 corridor which is where most of the trucks are located...these days.
It's just my experience that trucks are not less expensive on average. 2 cents.

Just for info. I was raised here. Lived here most of my life. 4th generation on my dads side. It's home and where my heart is. Seen the whole state from Milton freewater to Sycan marsh to bandon to Astoria. Love it all. For the tourists - once you've seen it, go home! Lol

Salt means rust and I do agree that Orgin has its fair share of rain. The vehicles there are for the most part fairly solid. I have a girlfriend who lives in Junction City and I own a 1964 SWB Chevy that is a real nice truck. It was built in Fremont and found its way to a dealer in Coos Bay and eventually ended up in Albany. I bought it from the second owner who owned it for only 8 months. The truck does have some rot but not nearly as much as it would in Michigan. When I see a truck for sale in Orgin (as pronounced in Orgin) I could sell the same truck in Michigan for triple the money they ask in Orgin.

Even when a truck is from the driest of conditions such as Phoenix or Cali, the rockers will still be subject to rot and that is only by fault of design and there is no way for all of the dirt, sand, and other road debris to get out of them. Add water and you have rot.

Tom McCall, who was a governor of Oregon, said "Come visit us again and again. This is a state of excitement. But for heaven's sake, don't come here to live."

I've been here my whole life too. And yeah, it rains pretty much non-stop from November to May. But I'd much rather live here than a lot of other places.

Lots of solid classics to choose from here. In the summer time there is a car show just about every weekend. Pretty big culture for classics. Cheaper? I don't think so, but certainly deals to be had.

@TBONE1964 the Junction City show and cruise was just last weekend! One of my favorite classic car events of the year.

Yes, I missed the Function in Junction this year but not next year. My girlfriend is sending me a t-shirt and sent me a lot of photos. There are also a lot of tri five Chevy's there, another one of my favorites.

It's funny to say but JC is more home to me now than where I live in Mich. Beautiful country there. Cannot wait to become a permanent resident.

I tried CL a few times when I decided to let my 68 GMC go to a new home. It is a two owner from new, no rust and I got not one legit offer from CL ad so I said screw it and kept it, glad I did.....

I got my truck last month from OREGON NO rust on frame or door or any where underneath just surface rust where the paint came off

I think the cheapest place is Washington state. I flew from Richmond,Va to Seatle, drove home with a rust free truck and was still cheaper than one I found here.,My 2 cents

Stated another way, the trucks in Oregon and Washington are generally in much better shape per dollar than other areas of the country. I've seen it after looking at hundreds or maybe even a thousand CL ads all over the country.

^^ I agree, the selection of our trucks found in Portland and Seattle's craigslist ads are much more plentiful, cheaper and generally in better shape than most of the rest of the country with maybe the exception of the LA area.

I've bought a couple of trucks in Portland for less than $3000 with minor amounts of rust, none of it actually visible until you crawl underneath. Two of them were in great shape, and I just jumped in and promptly drove 200 miles back home without any issues.
