I have the truck the guy lost the title and he changed cabs and it has the wrong vin I have known the guy and the truck my whole life and I'm wanting to put it back like it was

The most legal way would be to have the previous owner file for a lost title based on the original serial number...as stamped in the frame.
You could then remove the serial # on the replacement cab and operate with only the frame serial #. If there was an issue you could apply for a state assigned replacement serial #. As far as I know it is a major offense everywhere to move a serial # plate from one truck to another. It is a bit of a grey area if you took a complete cab that you had a title for and put that on the original frame....I do not think you would be prosecuted for that as you had not modified or drilled out the serial plate. |
