AC questions
I have a 84 C10 and the air hadn't worked since I bought the truck several months back. I bought a kit to convert it to the 134 coolant. I cranked the truck and turned the air on max. Nothing happened. When I turned the air on high it would blow hard but no cool air. I'm confused on why nothing happens when I turn the knob from off to max. Even when the knob is off and I switch it to high it blows air out.

Re: AC questions
The kit I bought has some gauges with it and showed after I put a can of freon in it to be approx. 50lb. What do you mean by bypass the low pressure switch? Thanks for your help.

Re: AC questions
50 may not be enough renember low presser no pump. i think these trucks take aroubd 2.5 of freeon.
also 134a will be 70psi at 70 degress. try adding one more can and i bet it will come on Posted via Mobile Device

Re: AC questions
Oh ok, The instructions told me to put 50-55psi @ 90 degrees. I wasn't sure on what to do to be honest. I'll give it a try this evening.

When i said bypass the switch....I meant taking a wire and disocnnectinng the switch form the accumulator and bypassing the plug. should have 12v at one of the wires on the connector. take volt meter and one lead to ground and the other to one of the pin on the connector and should read about 12v... |

Re: AC questions
Do you even know if the compressor is coming on?
The center should "click" on and spin with the pulley/belt No compressor spin=no workie

Re: AC questions
So I got the 3 cans of freon in the AC and the compressor cuts on for a second and then cuts off. It keeps doing that over and over. The clutch on the front of the compressor kicks on and off.

Re: AC questions
Agreed. The cycling switch turns off the compressor when the low side pressure is too low. It can be low because it's too cold on the low side, or the pressure is too low due to insufficient fill.
