Too much sound deadening under brake & throttle

I installed the recommended 3 layers of sound deadening plus carpet on my truck floor and I noticed that my brake pedal is pretty close to the carpet when braking and I only have half throttle when I mash my foot down on the peddle. Have any of you boys experienced this problem? I'm wondering whether there is a way to adjust or bend brake or throttle linkage to raise them up a bit so they have more floor clearance or if I need to dig out some of insulation.

Sure would appreciate some advice on this.

If it were me I would take up the carpet and take an exacto knife and cut out two of the layers under the pedals and problem solved.

Thanks for your response but I was kinda hoping that I wouldn't have to cut out the sound deadening right there with the headers right on the other side of the firewall. I was wondering if anyone had ever modified their brake linkage or their throttle linkage to raise them a small distance; it wouldn't take much.

OK well if this is a 71-72 all you have to do is install the Rod support (the triangle shaped plastic piece) on top of the carpet and it will work like it's supposed to.
If it is a 67-70 you can change it over to the 71-72 version and it will work fine, but this will require some work you will have to drill out the 3 square nuts that are welded to the inside of the firewall and weld up all the holes even the ones above it, then redrill the holes for the new style and tack weld square nuts to the engine side of the firewall, then drill a new hole and use a file to make it square for the cable grommet. The measurements for the bottom bolt hole are 2-1/8" from the left edge and 3-1/4" up from the curve in the floorpan. Make a cardboard cutout in the shape of an L with those measurements and use it to locate the bottom hole. Gdavis just did it recently on his truck Patches and it worked great.
Edit: you will have to remove the sound deadener in that spot to do it but you can put it back after the modification is complete.

Yes my truck is a 72 and I found that triangle piece that you are referring to. My carpet doesn't go up that high but I can see that if I shim that part out, it will give me more pedal space, thanks.

On the brake side, I was able to extend the brake rod above the brake pedal under the dash by removing all the steering column brackets, lowering the steering column, pulling the pin on the shaft, loosening the jam nut and un-screwing the rod further than it was before. It's perfect now.

Next, I'll try shimming the throttle linkage plate like you mentioned.
