Long time no post - Back with a new truck

Just logged back on, it says I havn't logged on since 2005. Been a while!

Back then I had a 72 C10, which I've since sold. I've gone through a few trucks, graduated college, bought a house, etc.

I picked this truck up last week to replace my rusted-out 1985 C10. It's a 1985 K20 Silverado. Had a 350 with a 700r4. Non-floating 14 bolt. Has NO brakes, which I'm working on now. Going to go-over it and use it as a tow rig for my other projects.

After the brakes get fixed, I need to get those crappy dry-rotted 33'' tires and rusty wagon wheels off it. I'm trying to find a decent set of used 8 lugs. Would love slots, but they are pretty pricey. Also needs shocks, and some other odds and ends.

Long-term plans is an SM465 4-spd swap, new exhaust, and a paint job.

I don't know how far you'll be willing to go to buy slots or maybe you can get this guy to ship them but I just found these.

Re: Long time no post - Back with a new truck

Well tried to free up the calipers, like I expected the bleeder screws snapped. I've been spraying them for days and tapping on them. Just heated them up with a torch and they still snapped. Time for some new $12.99 calipers, just didn't really feel like changing them since the truck is parked on a grassy hill with no brakes.

Finally got a chance to look at the option sheet. Turns out it also has cruise, 3.42 gears, and a locker. My 85 C10 also has the factory locker, don't know how I keep finding these. I thought the locking rears were rare?

Re: Long time no post - Back with a new truck

Thanks for the link to the wheels. There is a REALLY nice set on ebay, but it seems they are all 16.5''. I'd like to go to 16 so I can get tires easier.

Yep no problem, are you going to do the body work on this truck too?

Eventually. Have to get it on the road before the end of the month. That's when the registration expires on my rusty c10.
