Re: Just a little rust repair
Idk y but I can't rotate the pic Got all the rust in the cab cut out now time to cut the patch panels and weld. And yes I know some of you would have welded in a brace but the supports are holding strong and there is no flexing thanks for your concern

Re: Just a little rust repair
Good luck to ya, friend. Its been my experience that a little bit of rust repair----is like being just a little bit pregnant!!! It does look like you have a plan and a method.

Re: Just a little rust repair
Yet again sideways but test fitting some patch panels. More to cut and fit before all welded in place. But it's progress

Re: Just a little rust repair
I did the same job on my truck a few months back. Its depressing seeing the huge holes, but once its all back in you can admire all your hard work.

Re: Just a little rust repair
i'm doing the same repair to my 72. may be a dumb question but i'll ask anyway... are you butt welding the new panels in or laying them over "the hole" with a bit of an overlap ?

Re: Just a little rust repair
I did mine with an overlap. Butt welding is better and cleaner, but takes more precise cutting.

Re: Just a little rust repair
Same here. I would have measured 6 times, cut once, and still been wrong.

Re: Just a little rust repair
One thing I love about this forum is the advice offered up. When I was buying I searched many threads and many told me to "buy the best body you can - the mechanicals are the easy part". I really admire all you who deal with massive rust issues. It takes a talent I don't have.
