Crap I broke it

Well just goes to show that if your tired, you should not do transmission work. I was switching over the brass fittings from hard lines to braided steel lines with AN -6 fittings (Fittings Shown Here) and I snapped the fitting right off on the transmission. Then I tried with a left handed drill bit and had a really good bite then snap... Yup thats in the transmission too. After that I walked away for the night.

Guess I will be headed to the machine shop tomorrow, luckily the transmission is on my engine stand.

Yep, we've all had days like yours. Good for you on walking away. Remember that fitting may have won the battle but you will win the war.

Good luck today!

Re: Crap I broke it

just did that last week same an fitting. I put grease in my drill bit and very slowly drilled it out. I then used the biggest easy out and it came right out. I then threw the other fitting in the trash. I went back to what has worked for years, 5/16 brake line bent to fit in all the factory oil pan clips to a new b&m cooler. Looks great and cost was less than 15 bucks.

Yeah I might just do the same thing. Or also I thought about bending up my own lines to run down the frame rail. I just prefer the look of lines on the rail instead of under the engine.

Re: Crap I broke it: Got My Trans Back

Well I got my trans back from the machine shop. They were able to remove the broken fitting but they had to remove the pump to make sure all the shavings were out too. While the pump was out I decided to investigate alittle bit to see how the clutches looked. Lucky me, I get to replace all the clutches because look what I found.

Mind you, the one with bent teeth is also con-caved in. Almost looks like someone used a c-clamp or press to push everything down and put in the snap ring.
