My 85 build
Figured I would finally post up what I have been working on. It's a 85 Shortbed 2wd, 350 motor, and 700r4 trans.
Here is what I started with. Little rough. Pic is of the one I used for parts. It was too far gone, had to buy another cab and doghouse. Raised trans tunnel. Shaved the heater box. Narrowed and cupped the lower control arms. Engine done and waiting. Got the brackets made for bucket seats and the under side undercoated. Frame is off to get blasted. When it gets back, Z'ing the frame and installing the 4 link. Been slow going here lately, but i try to something even if it isnt much. I'll try to remember to take pics to keep this updated. Sometimes though I get on a roll and forget to stop, lol. |

Re: My 85 build
Don't think this is the right forum, don't see an AD or TF sitting on that frame...

Re: My 85 build
Been working on it a little more. Got the frame started.
Got the 4 link tacked in. Scored me a console with the Bose system in it. Got the cab undercoated. |

Re: My 85 build
How well does that console fit. Do you have any closeups of where it meets the dash.

Re: My 85 build
It fits good on the one side. The passenger side not so well. I am fiberglassing my dash and figured I would just mold this console in too. Shouldnt be too bad though. Like the old saying goes "primer and paint will hide what aint", lol.

Re: My 85 build
Well I have got quite a bit done since my last post. Set the motor and trans in and made new crossmember.
Boxed the frame in and got it down on the ground. Got the cab and body bolted back on. Started building the bracing for the bed floor. Think I am going to drop it down after the notch so i can at least carry a good sized cooler if I want to. |

Re: My 85 build
It's been awhile since I updated this thread. Heres what I have done so far. Got the engine and transmision all set in.
Got the blazer tank fabbed up some what. Bought new wheels and put them on to make sure everything clears. Got fenders mocked up and welded in. Made the cowl hood. Fabbed up some lift supports for the hood since the stock ones would no longer work. Finally found a color i like and painted intake and valve covers to match rest of the truck eventually. |

Re: My 85 build
Looks really nice. What did you use as a guide for determining the angles of your four link. Did you consider a four link with bars perpendicular to the axle, along with locator bar for axle? I am thinking of a four link setup for a moderate H.P (600), 417 SB future build.
What type of driving are you planning for your truck? Les |

Re: My 85 build
On the bar setup, I talked to the guys at Thor bros. and they told me what measurements and angles to do. I went with a triangulated 4 link because it is a little easier to setup. This is just going to be a driver. Might be some "spirited" driving, but probably will never see a drag strip.

Re: My 85 build
Well my stock booster was a bit close to the engine for me, so I bought a new one. I think it is much better. Ported and polished the throttle body too.
