Re: 65 FrankenBurb

looks like the rust is cured...
maybe a play on that old 70's show car- transamvan??

here is the description:
Up for auction is one of the coolest rat rods that i have ever seen. It is a 1965 Chevy Suburban body sitting on a 1979 Pontiac Trans-Am chassis. It has the 403 Oldsmobile V8 engine and automatic transmission. Dual rear axles (only one pulls, other one is just for looks). Tilt front end. Has a brand new 4 core radiator and and fuel pump. Runs and drives good. Brakes are a little weak but they will stop the car. (I think it needs a brake booster). I drive this car to all of the local car shows but it has not been on the interstate since 2006. All of the lights, gauges, etc. work. The headlights are mounted in the holes in the front of the hood.

Re: 65 FrankenBurb

Like it or not, it takes a certain amount of skill set to achieve a working vehicle. I personally kind of like the interior construction, using the old Firebird dash, seats and console.

I am also assuming they meant "Firebird subframe" instead of chassis, since those cars do not have a full frame, there is no complete chassis to use.

No matter like it or hate it, I applaud the effort it took. But then again, I prefer custom over restored, anyway.

judging by the seats and floor, I am thinking they set the sub body on a firebird floor pan(chassis)
you can see how they kept the firebird cowl, with the a/c and brake, it would also explain why the f/b dash is mounted so low in the burb.

Re: 65 FrankenBurb

I see what you mean, Jonz- I hadn't paid that close attention to the firewall, either. I agree looks like "burb was channeled down over Firebird .
