Re: Trucks with lifts pictures

Here is one of the nicest I have seen around, I am not a lifted fan, but this is something I would build. have no idea who built it, a big kudos to the builder and would love to see more of it.

Here is picture of my truck with a tuff country 2" lift and 285-75-16 (33's) on it. She rides real smooth on a smooth road! No body lean in the turns with front and rear sway bars either.

Here is the '72 GMC I built with a 2 1/2" lift, the '71 Chevy I built with a 2 1/2" lift, and the '70 I'm working on now with a 3" lift. I don't have a picture of the '70 on the ground.

Re: Trucks with lifts pictures

71 K20 on later model 1 tons with either 2" or 4" Superlift springs no blocks and front/rear sway bars and 285/75/16's. Truck is still fairly new to me and PO couldn't tell me much about it so I'm still figuring out the "additional" options. Gotta rework the bump stops and take it back to single shocks but rides pretty good.

I really like that 2'' lift. Gives the truck a nice stance. Did you have to alter suspension, steering ect.?

Re: Trucks with lifts pictures

That's one of the reasons I went with the tuff country lift was because I didn't need a dropped pitman arm or different steering arm. The rear has the springs rather than blocks and other than stubborn bolts the only problem I had was on the front drivers side with the brackets that keep the leaf spring "in place". I'm not sure of the technical name but its a stop bracket that bolts on the frame on the rear and on the front it's a welded "cover". Basically I had to grind thru the bottom two welds and open it up to get the spring in and the bracket on the rear had to be shortened by about an 1/8 inch otherwise the spring would hit it when I took it off the jack.

Your truck is awesome. Wish mine looked like that. For the tuffcountry 2'' lift can you just get the blocks and u bolts or do you have to get new springs to? I don't have to much extra money to spend so if I could get the blocks and u bolts how much that run me.

First off thank you for the nice comment about my truck. I did a frame off restoration so it better look good! If you buy a tuff country lift kit it is all springs. If you are trying to lift your truck with stock springs and blocks you can do that to the rear and buy new 2" front springs to save some money. I dont think it's a good idea to put blocks in the front if you drive it on the road.

No blocks in the front ever!! You wouldn't be drivin' it you would have to herd it. It would wander all over the place

Re: Trucks with lifts pictures

4" Skyjacker with 33s. Drove like crap until the bushings settled in. The kit did not come with bushings for top of shackle hangers. Since I did not have them on hand, I installed the kit and ordered the bushings. They're still sitting on my workbench waiting to be installed (one year later still have not done it) Bottom line -- Make sure to get the bushings for the top shackle to frame.
