Vacuum Fitting Help needed
Ready to install some vacuum lines (tranny & power brakes) on my BB. Have a new Edelbrock Performer manifold and have discovered that nobody carries an aftermarket vacumn T set-up ready to go. What have you guys done to plumb up your vacumn lines? Any help appreciated.

salvage yard, most early 70's car's have the tee fittings. If you don't find one, let me know, I am sure our salvage yard has them

I should be physically there helping you with this one.
I use 1/4 and 3/8 brass fittings (1/4" to tranny; 3/8" to brake booster) from any NAPA or hardware store. I generally make a tee fitting that's small, out of the way, and somewhat adjustable. I don't put it together until I get the manifold and carb put in place with all the linkage (the vacuum hoses can turn out to be obtructed by the accel. linkage, etc.). Then I use the liquid teflon thread sealer you can get anywhere. Stay away from thread tape. I make the fitting first, then I apply the thread sealer to the fitting that goes into the intake. The thread sealer sets up in 24 hours, but you can make minute adjustments up to 12 hours after installing (I don't bother). It should dry to the touch in 1 hour. Then I use the stiffest hose I can get. Generally that means the hose has to have a fiber in it - like your radiator hoses.

These guys carry the best selection of vacuum trees that I have ever found. Check them out!
