xm antennas on K5 blazers.

Without using the crappy magnetic antennas what are you guys using?

With the roof off, you really have no place to do something permanent without it looking misplaced and ugly.

My idea is to use the factory location on the blazer and install a factory "mini cooper" fm/xm integrated antenna.

Re: xm antennas on K5 blazers.

I know it's an old post, but I have the magnetic antenna on the dash with the cable running under the defroster vent. It works just fine with the top on or off.

Re: xm antennas on K5 blazers.

yes, i know the magnetic ones work, and thanks for the input...

when the time comes i will be using the "mini cooper" antenna because its the only solution i can find... that i can almost tolerate

my other half has the xm roady and that stupid magnetic and it drives me nuts... its such an after thought...

here is the link to the base... then you get the long antenna... put it right in the factory k5 antenna location

I put the magnetic one on my 84 GMC. It sets on the cowl, just in front of the driver's seat, at the edge behind the hood. It is hard to see. You can paint them to match if you want to.

that base is 3 times the size of my antenna on my truck. http://www.ebay.com/itm/like/150667613582?lpid=82
thats about the size of a quarter. what is on my truck the wire is hidden through the brake lights so basically you have a dot the size of a quarter. you could put it on the dash in the or on under the cowl where the wiper vents are.

In tracking you. And I get what your saying.

I'm gonna be spending a ****-ton of money on a build. The last thing I want is a mag xm floating around.

The truck already has an antenna on the front so the Mini Cooper antenna base won't bother me so much.
I've had xm since year 1. I lived with that stupid mag antenna for a couple years until we got new cars with integrated xm

Yes I probably need to seek mental help.

Also because the way the 3 satellites orbit in space south Florida doesn't get the best reception. A palm tree or going up over a bridge can fade out xm. It orbits like a figure 8 from South America to Canada.
