Getting ready to scrap a cab
This cab is getting scrapped, and I just want to know if you all see anything we should remove before junking. I don't think we'll be parting any body panels, just don't want to toss anything that could be useful to someone, and if you see something you want to get a closer look at let me know, and I'll try and get a pic up for you.

Re: Getting ready to scrap a cab
It doesn't look like the transmission tunnel is removable or I would say keep that. What about the cab roof lights? She sure has seen better days.

This truck has been used and abused. My aunt and uncle have a landscape business and this was their first work truck back in the late 80's I'm guessing, the Igle on the door is the company they bought it from, so yea, it's been around the block a time or two.

Re: Getting ready to scrap a cab
Just the cab is getting scrapped? I'd say cab lights along with the cab light wiring harness (don't cut the wires), doesn't happen to have a factory tach does it? Grill good?

I can't tell condition from where I sit, but if it were mine, I would pull:
instrument bezel heater control glove box and glove box door ashtray and ashtray housing trim pieces under the steering column vent window assemblies all gauges |

Re: Getting ready to scrap a cab
Also, from the pic the roof looks to be in good condition, I have met a few guys that used replacement roofs to repair a popular mod the 80s sun roof, that always look no matter what you do.

Re: Getting ready to scrap a cab
At some point you have to look at the fact that this truck is in pretty bad shape and any parts you get off it are one step above junk. Now you have to store this "junk" somewhere not knowing if you will ever use any of it. Not to mention you have to pull all these dirty crappy parts off the truck, in the hot sun and then you have to store them somewhere, and may never use any of them. Then you have to figure what your time is worth. And don't forget your labor. Whats your time and labor worth while you are pulling parts that are crusty dirty almost junk, that you have to store somewhere and in the end, you may never even use most of this stuff.
Something to think about... Good Luck!!!

Re: Getting ready to scrap a cab
I can’t tell by the photos if yours is bad, But I am in need of the lower ¼ (quarter) of the windshield frame & cowling area.
The one on my 79’ K-30 has rusted out at both radius corners, 10” up the A-pillar, as well as starting to eat away at the wiper shaft penetrations. If you lived on this side of the Rockies I come over and get it. Let me know if you’re willing to cut it out and ship it |
