How do you identify the year of a frame?

The '68 4x4 that we picked up for my daughter was born as a C10, and I'd like to find out what year the frame and drivetrain is so I can buy the correct parts. Where on the frame do I need to look at, and what numbers or letters do I need to decode? Thanks!

On top of the driver side frame rail. One stamp is under the cab and the other is typically in front of the upper control arm mount.

A frame vin stamp format:

7A123456

7= 1967
A= Atlanta assembly plant
123456= assembly sequence.

Re: How do you identify the year of a frame?

got any pics to shoot us in the right direction. most c10 frames are very distinct of what they belong too.
take some pics of the the front of the frame, whole frame, rear frame rails near shock crossmember and trailing arm crossmember

for the most part they are all the same other than bodymount locations and bed mounts
also if it was a 3/4 ton or 1/2
