Re: Vin location

They are on top of the passenger frame rail under the cab. Really tough to see if the cab is mounted.

Re: Vin location

On my '83, the last half of the vin is stamped on the flange around the hole in the firewall for the blower motor/heater core. You'll need to remove the cover to see it.

and under the bed, on the pass frame rail, just behind the cab.

The 73-74's also had it on the driver frame rail, by the steering box... Maybe 75?

Re: Vin location

Cool thanks guys. Any more locations by any chance. I'm doing cab swap and just don't want to be hassled by the man if I get pulled over.

I also was not aware of a hidden VIN on the cab anywhere. We did stamp a three digit cab shop build sequence number on the upper radius of the cowl panel but I was not aware of anything in the heater box area.

Axle - do you know which plant that truck was built in?

It tells you if your cab or frame has been swapped.

If the cab, frame and title match - you're good.

If they are different - then there's some history there that you'll want to uncover.

Oshawa, Ontario Canada.

Alex.

Not my photo attached, just the orange box and arrow. =-)
(okay, why do we have such a ridiculously small image size limitation for attachments? 642 pixels wide? Come on...)

Interesting. I wonder if that is an "Oshawa only" thing.
