Removing a tub.
I got my hands on a very decent tub nearby. (Pics soon) as it is now it is sitting on the chassis. I was thinking of hooking it up to a cherry picker, rolling the chassis out from underneath it and backing a trailer back under it. All panels will be removed, except maybe the doors for rigidity. What spots should I anchor the body from, and what is a good way to block it on my flatbed trailer? Or any suggestions at all to make this any easier task.

Re: Removing a tub.
Well for starters plan on all the body bolts being junk and rusted and snapping, but what i did was jack the body up off the frame and put jack stands on the outside of the body and support the body with a looooong piece of rectangle tubing. Then roll the chassis out from underneath it. Ill post a pic in a sec. Copy what i did to support the bed portion. Then drop it down onto a dolly(could be a pallet with wheels on it) and roll it onto a trailer.

Re: Removing a tub.
Support the frame on jack stands, remove all the body mounts, E-brake, wiring and anything else that holds the body to the frame. Jack the frame high enough to clear the stands and put the body on jack stands one end at a time and just drop the frame out from under the body. Make sure you have the stands in a wide enough stance to clear the frame so you can roll it out on furniture dollies. Well this is what I did at least. I also supported the body the full length of the torque boxes with 2 jack stands on each side, plus another pair on the last bed support in the rear that goes all the way side to side.

Re: Removing a tub.
I used the cherry picker and chain trick. I lifted my body just enough to roll it out on a set of rims. I didn't want to raise the body any higher than it was. I just put the wheels back on after I got it out. |

Re: Removing a tub.
Great advice, guys! Where did you anchor your four chain points to? I'll be ready to do this sometimes this week, so ill post some pics and how it all went. Thanks!

Re: Removing a tub.
I used two chains, one across the front seat mounting holes and one across the rear most bench seat mounting holes. I just raised one end at a time and blocked.
