Holes, everyboy's got them....or do they?

I am seeking places to mount the "remote control" of the wiper delay unit I offer. Are the holes pictured in the images "factory"? One is by the e-brake and one is to the left of the ign. switch of my 72. Do other model years have these holes if they were/are factory? What were they intended for if the are/were factory?

I believe they are factory holes. My truck has the hole above the parking brake release, complete with original paint. It's clearly not a drilled hole.

The other hole has the aftermarket fuel gauge selector toggle switch, so I'm less sure about that one.
It was there when I bought the truck in 1977.

My 69 has only the hole above the brake release handle. Nothing near the ignition switch. I can assure you that's the way it came from GM.

May vary by year and production date though.

Very interesting, so far we are three for three on the hole by the e-brake. Anybody else care to chime in? Thanks!

Re: Holes, everyboy's got them....or do they?

I have the hole by the key, I have my dash apart to do some work, and add the wiper delay, i thought about trying to mount it there also, will have to check into that later.

My 70 has both holes. I've found they're the perfect size for 1/2 inch aftermarket toggle switches. I've used both - one for a light control switch and one for the switch for my amp.

I was thinking, possibly tooling holes for ether manufacture or alignment? also possibly different from plant to plant as well?

Re: Holes, everyboy's got them....or do they?

On my '68 the hole on the left above the e-brake is there, but on the right by the ignition switch, the hole is there but it is only about 1/4"-5/16" diameter. I forgot to check the '67 that is in my shop, but I would imagine it is the same. The '69 parts cab that I have has both holes as your '72 does Bill.

Re: Holes, everyboy's got them....or do they?

Thanks for the input everybody. Judging by the first batch of potentiometers I ordered, the hole(s) would not work. I am going with a bracket to mount the pot or drill 5/16" hole in the bezel to mount it directly. I will give the buyers of the delay the option to do either.
