72 Highlander SWB - new to forum
Hello all, I just inherited a 1972 Chevy C10 from my great-grandfather. He originally ordered the truck from Best Chevrolet in Modesto, CA. He recently passed away and I am now the proud second owner. Truck is dark blue with white cab top, 93,300 miles, highlander seat cover, factory A/C, tilt column, short bed, Barden rear bumper, wheel covers and tow mirrors. My buddy posted about the truck a couple weeks ago and I am just getting around to putting some pics up. There is no rust anywhere, the paint is in pretty good shape (put 6 hours into polishing it up and it shined right up). Well anyways, thank you in advance for all the comments and compliments, looking forward to the fun of restoring it to its glory!

Greetings from your C10's hometown of Modesto! Looks like a great inheritance. Would love to see some pictures of the interior on that!

Damn! You have yourself a keeper! If it ever gets too much to work on... just let me know, I'll be right over to take it off your hands in a half hour, lol.

Re: 72 Highlander SWB - new to forum
My great grandfather used this truck mainly to haul firewood. The bed definitely shows that, but he loved this truck. It was always garaged, I have all of his service records from the day he bought it. My plan is to keep this truck original, replace all missing/broken parts with NOS and rebuild the motor this winter to make it strong and healthy. I LOVE the look of the patina paint, it reminds me of my grandfather. The body is pretty straight for the most part, couple of dents I want to try and have popped out without messing up the paint and keep her on the road. Needs a new outer grill shell, body trim cleaned up and the black repainted, and straighten out the front bumper.

Welcome to the forum, love the truck.
Since you're cleaning things up I thought I'd pass on a tip. Your steering wheel looks a little dull like mine was. Try making some paste with comet and a little water, scrub the wheel and wipe dry. It will really shine it up. |

That truck is a sweetie and with the history of it you should have many years of enjoyment with the truck before you pass it down.

There's going to be a Nor-Cal get together in Vacaville at Arlington park on Sept 15th, if you feel like making the drive. I'd love to see your truck.

Sweet! Keep it whole and as original as possible!
Now how could you be lucky enough to find NOS marker lights? figured that was unobtanum.

Very nice truck! Awesome to have something like that passed down from your great-grandfather!

Re: 72 Highlander SWB - new to forum
Very nice truck! Highlander Promo Package C truck makes for a nice ride, hope to see it in the future. On the marker light there are apparently some GM service replacement markers still in the system but they are much later production than the trucks. Think of them as reproduction parts with GM part numbers. For what it is worth, the standard type you took off are the correct style for that trim level.
