Re: 1968 rear suspension questions

I'm pretty sure that you can just drill / grind out the rivets and directly swap out the crossmember, they're the same 63-72. The frames are different at the core support area and a few other places slightly, but the crossmember is the same.

Edit: also don't forget the mount for the panhard bard on the driver's side behind the axle. if you have a 12-bolt that doesn't have the ear for the panhard bar you might need to change that out, don't know if the leaf spring ones have it.

Re: 1968 rear suspension questions

That's what I thought but wasn't 100% is the axles the same width or wider in 66? And does anyone know what size wheel spacer to put on the 68 to run the late model rims

I think the axles are the same width on 66's and 68's. They get wider on 70's and get 5-lug on 71's.

Why don't you pull some leaves out for a smoother ride?

Re: 1968 rear suspension questions

I eventually would like to go to a air ride set up. I have a 1964 chevy frame everything looks the same but the rear end it has a bracket welded to the axle instead of bolting onto the diff. Looks like only thing that would be different on this setup is the tracking bar is longer I'm going to start cutting robots tomorrow if weather allows
