NP 435 trans.

Anyone know how often the NP 435 was used on Chevy's? I thought they were mostly Ford. Advance Adapters says "rarely used" and only '68-'72. I plan to sell it, but I don't know if it's a collectors item or a boat anchor. It came from a salvage, supposedly from a '58 Chevy 1 ton. Thanks for any help.

Re: NP 435 trans.

Actually the majority of '67 - '69 GMC's with 305 and 351 V6's came with them. I have one in my '69 GMC 3500 dump truck and I also used one in my '67 C-30 diesel dually. I like them because 1st gear is not nearly as low the 1st gear in SM420's and SM465's. You can actually use 1st gear if the truck doesn't have super low rearend gears.

Re: NP 435 trans.

Thanks guys. It was headed for my '69 C-30. We found a SM 420 to use instead. Dad wanted the lowest gear he could get to haul logs in the brush on hills. I think the 420 has a 7.05:1 first gear, so maybe I picked the right one. Thanks again.
