Cragar SS vs Rally Wheels - Sound Off
OK guys, let me hear from you - Cragar SS vs Rally Wheels - My 72 came with hub caps and I swapped them out for Rally Wheels but I am a guy from the 70's and have always loved the SS's - What's you vote?
Pics welcomed!

Re: Cragar SS vs Rally Wheels - Sound Off
Depends on the truck IMO. Nothing looks better on a stocker than the rallys, and big Cragar SS's look great on a custom truck.
I really wanted 17/18 inch Cragars but the price kept me away

Truck rallys have my vote...like the stock look, even though they didn't come orig. on 67-72 trucks.

Thanks Bruceman for the mock up - it helps see what it would look like with SS's

Re: Cragar SS vs Rally Wheels - Sound Off
i've never been o big fan of cragars cause of the poor quality plating they have used and to me both them and ralley wheels are too heavy // i prefer the handeling advantages of lightwheight wheels like slotted aluminium and or torque thrust wheels

Re: Cragar SS vs Rally Wheels - Sound Off
Rally's IMO, unless you are going with 17" Cragars.

Here is a little 70 stepside I built about 10 years ago. I originally used rally's then went Cragars.

Re: Cragar SS vs Rally Wheels - Sound Off
2WD, I love either. The Cragars (or similar style) have a classic look that's just sharp, and the rallys can look great too.
4WD, I'd stick with the rally wheels. |

Re: Cragar SS vs Rally Wheels - Sound Off
Beautiful Chrome look contrasting a Beautiful Black Truck! I'm curious on your Tire size and back space to run 15 X 10s on all four?
I have four brand new 15 X 10 Corvette style rallys (5 inch back space) 5 X 4-3/4 lugs and I'm thinking of trying BFG 275-60-15s all around. Any insights Yes I've converted to 5-lugs all around with disc brakes upfront, new 5 lug axles out back.

Re: Cragar SS vs Rally Wheels - Sound Off
Craigar SS or Daisy wheels look great as do slots. If you don't like the rally wheels (like me) slap on a P01 wheelcover on in place of the trim ring.

Not sure on exact back spacing since they were on it when I got it. But it has 295-50-15's all around. Posted via Mobile Device

Re: Cragar SS vs Rally Wheels - Sound Off
I like them both also. I am an old school guy and I like the look of the old school 15 inch Cragar S/S wheels. 15 x 7 front and 15 x 8 in the rear with a 235/70/15 front tire and a 275/60/15 rear tire.
As much as I like the rally's (truck rally's) I see them everywhere and they are a very cost effective solution for a nice looking wheel. When I have the $1,400 it is going to cost, I am putting American Racing Torque Thrust D's on my truck with the same sizes as mentioned above. You are going to get a lot of opinions here and this is mine |

Re: Cragar SS vs Rally Wheels - Sound Off
definitely rallies. save the $ for other stuff because if it's THAT close of a choice, well... I think the rallies win hands down on a lwb truck. And I love cragar s/s wheels, always have, and have had them on a car or two. they were great quality, never flaked or rusted, and that was in Indiana. But, a long time ago - not sure how they are made now. Also, I'm sure I'll tick some folks off, but here goes - the ONLY wheel diameter that ever looks right for me for cragar s/s wheels is 15". The newer large dia s/s wheels just seem to look 'not quite right'... Just my 2cents though. Stick with the rallies!

Re: Cragar SS vs Rally Wheels - Sound Off
That's a big tire you're running and if they don't rub I should be fine too, Thanks. These Rallys are a 5-lug starting point as they were cheap, new from Summit, free shipping.

Re: Cragar SS vs Rally Wheels - Sound Off
Wear the Cragars for awhile. Display the Rally's on the wall for a while, then switch.
