Heater Box Question - am I missing seals?
I tore apart my entire heater system inside and outside the cab. It was completely jacked up with leaves. In fact, a previous operator was trying so hard to open one of the levers that they broke it (so I have to rebuild the heater controls). The damper door they were trying to open/close was packed solid with stuff. I took the entire assembly apart, cleaned and serviced it so it should work like a champ.
Anyway... Please take a look at your heater boxes- is there a gasket or seal missing on my heater coils? Seems to me there should be something there to keep more air in the cab. I can't tell from the parts vendors I checked out if there is supposed to be something there and the service manual doesn't have enough detail... Thanks!

I also got a set of window seals (felts, channels, etc.) for the doors. That should tighten up the windows and make it sound better when I close a door. Dave's is way on the other end so I'll have to make a trip out there on a Saturday when I've not got anything else to do.

Re: Heater Box Question - am I missing seals?
People at modern are always good to me, I like it because I get it next day, I am other side of Asheville. Dave has a lot of stuff and worth a ride to hickory for the tour. Tommy's in Shelby is good too. He worked at modern or flow and retired from there. He knows his gm parts..

Re: Heater Box Question - am I missing seals?
Hey John, I noticed you live in Rockwell. I live in Faith so if you ever need a hand with anything on your truck, let me know. It would be a shame if we live this close together and don't take advantage of that.

Re: Heater Box Question - am I missing seals?
They are nothing more than 1/4" foam disks. You could make them and probably get them in there without tearing apart the box. Another possible option, you could use that expandable foam stuff, squirt around the core pipes, let it cure, then shave it off flush with the heater box...then paint it black.

Re: Heater Box Question - am I missing seals?
Is it the original heater core? If so, just spend the 30 bucks and replace it now, because it's horrible trying to replace them. Just my 2 cents
