Headlight brights and dims
Well..I solved the stereo problem..but now I have another. All my headlights work..but wuen I turn on my brights..the passenger side dim bulb shuts off. When I go back to dims..both dims are on. Is there a wire..switch..or fuse I should look at? I have no idea right now.

Re: Headlight brights and dims
Could it be a relay somewhere? I have a tilt steering column with the dimmer in the column. I was out tracing the wires. The headlight wires stop at a plug on the drivers side firewall. I wiggled amd blew out the connection on the passenger headlight and that didn't help. I'm just stuck. No matter what I search online I come back empty

Re: Headlight brights and dims
I had the same issue. It turned out to be corrosion on the wiring terminals. I carefully removed the spade ends from the pigtail with a straight pick, hosed them with some carb cleaner and gently sanded hem until they were shiny. Reassembled and all was well.

Re: Headlight brights and dims
Clean up the gounding connections.
On the bolts, use a wire wheel/ wire brush to return the threads (and underside of the head) to bright metal. Also, clean to bright metal, both sides of the ring terminals that the bolt passes through. The female threads in the frame weldnuts that the bolts are threaded into. The area of the radiator support frame that is under the stack of ring terminals. Location of RH side lighting group ground connection: |

Re: Headlight brights and dims
Thanks guys. Ill be sure to recheck wiring condition. I'm just curious why it both work on dim..but one goes off during brights..I have dual dims with the dual bright bulbs. It sounds like the filimant could have been damaged.
